Shillong, Jul 10: The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority organised the National Lok Adalat on Saturday in all the districts of the state, except West Jaintia Hills district, Jowai.
The National Lok Adalat was held under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the patronage of the Chief Justice Biswanath Somadder, of the High Court of Meghalaya and Patron-in-Chief of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) and under the supervision of Justice R. V. More, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya, and Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority.
In the National Lok Adalat, 319 Pre-Litigation cases and 345 pending cases were taken up for settlement.
A total number of cases taken up were 664 and of which 133 cases and an amount of Rs. 40,49,334.3 was settled in the National Lok Adalat.
