Nigerian national and Naga woman arrested from Delhi remanded to police custody

Shillong, Nov 5: The Nigerian National ‘Felix’ and a Naga woman ‘Khegoli’ who were recently arrested from New Delhi were brought to Meghalaya and remanded to five days police custody on Friday by a court for further investigation.

According to police, during preliminary investigation it was found that several people from Meghalaya from various districts like West Jaintia Hills district (Jowai), East Khasi Hills district (Shillong), West Garo Hills district (Tura), South Garo Hills district (Baghmara), East Garo Hills district (Williamnagar), Ri-Bhoi district (Nongpoh) and West Khasi Hills district (Nongstoin) have been cheated in the same manner.

The Nigerian had many other gang members operating with him.

Investigation is going on and one of his fake Facebook account have been identified by Police as Alex Williams/Alex James.

One of his whatsapp number which he used for the frauds is +447398279773.

The Meghalaya police have warned all the Facebook/Whatsapp users to be cautious against such fraudsters and not to fall prey.

The police also stated that if anyone has been cheated by the above account they may contact the nearest police station.

Earlier this week, a team of police from the East Garo Hills district nabbed the duo from Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area on Sunday with the help of Delhi Police.

As per reports, they were arrested in connection with a Rs 2 lakh cyber fraud case, lodged at the Williamnagar police station in East Garo Hills district.
