No time frame into probe against financial irregularities in ADCs

Rymbui hopes that SSA teachers will get pending salaries before Christmas

Shillong, Nov 30: State District Council Affairs (DCA) Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui today said that the government has not set any time frame for the completion of the probe by the Director of the Local Fund Audit (DLFA) into the alleged misuse of the central funds by the autonomous district councils.

“No time frame has been set. We want the investigating agency to study the matter thoroughly, because if, in any case the government has to take action (against persons), the evidence has to be fool proof,” Rymbui told reporters.

It may be mentioned that the DLFA was asked by the State government to conduct a detailed inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of funds by the JHADC and GHADC.

The probe will enquire into the alleged corruption in the implementation of the central special assistance grant (SAG) by the two autonomous district councils

Earlier, BJP State president Earnest Mawrie had raised the issue of corruption in the two councils.

According to the District Council Affairs Minister since there are allegations and counter allegations of financial misappropriation the team conducting the probe will have to study in detail the documents available so that the enquiry is complete.

Rymbui said that if the report comes out the findings should be clear to the people of the state.
