Shillong Oct 18: The BJP Meghalaya Pradesh hit out at the NPP and said that the NPP cannot ask the BJP to leave Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) “because MDA exists because of BJP.”
“MDA does not belong to NPP as NPP is a coalition partner of BJP in MDA. Sad that Prestone Tynsong did not realise that without BJP, the MDA cannot exist. In centre it is the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) where the NPP is a coalition partner. In Meghalaya, NPP is a coalition partner that won more seats in support of BJP. In Garo Hills, the NPP partnered with the BJP and named the coalition in GHADC as Garo Hills Democratic Alliance (GHDA). So, what is NPP without BJP?” State Vice President,
BJP Meghalaya Pradesh, Bernard N Marak said.
He said that Prestone’s statement asking the BJP to leave the MDA is the most irresponsible statement given by NPP against BJP with sole intention to divert the corruption of NPP leaders.
He also claimed that NPP is a coalition partner of the BJP in MDA, and NPP is not the “boss” of MDA.
“So NPP dictating the BJP to leave is nothing more than a joke. BJP will decide on MDA and if NPP wants to indulge in corruption openly, they should decide whether they want to be in MDA or leave as BJP will not submit to their corrupt tactics of looting the public. People are fed up of rampant corruption in the State and faith on MDA is going out because of NPP who avoid table talks. NPP never gave platform to discuss issues on GHADC scams, illegal coal transportation and others. They acted like BJP was nobody to them. That’s the reason why BJP made a decision to expose the corruption within its coalition partners,” Marak said.
He also claimed that BJP made Conrad Sangma as Chief Minister even before he was elected. So he, being the National President, should clarify his stand if Prestone’s statement came on his direction or was it made on his own? BJP always wanted these matters to be discussed internally but NPP never acknowledged.
Prestone failed to understand that Democratic Alliance means Coalition with BJP so the question is, who is NPP to ask BJP to leave? BJP wanted “Good Governance” and is fed up of rampant corruption in the State. By no means BJP will compromise the looting of the public in the name of coalition. If NPP needs BJP only to get financial assistance from the Centre, BJP will take it up at the highest level and about CBI, we are moving Court. We will also file case at Lokayukta court too against all corrupt leaders and officials. NPP has been backstabbing BJP ever since NPP was formed. Conrad Sangma won Tura seat by good margin because of BJP otherwise his chance of winning was only 50%. He was defended by BJP on allegations made by oppositions on “Reservation policy” and “Work permit for Bangladeshis”. Conrad was made CM so that he would lead MDA providing “Good Governance” to the public and for that, all support was provided by BJP. Today NPP forgets the grassroot level contribution by BJP? Let Conrad Sangma make a public statement that NPP does not need BJP and we will take up the matter seriously right from the grassroot to the Centre. NPP has revealed it’s true colour by asking BJP to leave Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) when in reality it is NPP who might need to leave MDA once their corruption is unveiled and the fear of which has made them oppose CBI inquiry. If tgeres no corruption why are they scared? Money might be everything for NPP but to BJP, money is not everything but “Good Governance” is.
“So, BJP dares the NPP to decide to fight BJP on corruption issues or to walk out of MDA,” Marak stated.
