Shillong, Mar 1: Olet Kharsahnoh an opponent of Cabinet Minister and People’s Democratic Front (PDF) legislator Banteidor Lyngdoh during the 2018 Assembly polls joined the party on Monday.

It may be reminded that Kharsahnoh had contested the 2018 polls on a Congress ticket but lost to the incumbent Lyngdoh.

On Monday he along with members of the Mawkynrew Block Congress Committee (MBCC) and his supporters joined the PDF in front of Lyngdoh.

It may be mentioned that on Saturday, Kharsahnoh who is the block president had resigned from his post.

Speaking at a function to welcome him, Kharsahnoh said that the MBCC and his supporters had collectively taken the decision to quit the Congress and join PDF even as he said that all will ensure that Lyngdoh retains Mawkynrew constituency in the 2023 Assembly election.

Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion to welcome Kharsahnoh and his supporters, Lyngdoh who is also a Cabinet Minister in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government said that his only wish is to see that the constituency he represents is developed.

“I will work for each and everyone one irrespective of their party affiliations,” the Mawkynrew MLA said.

Lyngdoh also said that cooperation and unity is of utmost importance to see that Mawkynrew constituency is on the road to development.
