Shillong, Sep 21: One person was sentenced to a jail term by a Court for attempt to rape.
East Khasi Hills, Superintendent of Police (SP), S. Nongtnger, informed that the Court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class, East Khasi Hills, Shillong found him guilty of the offence and accordingly sentenced the person to simple imprisonment of three years and one month with a fine of Rs.1000.
It may be mentioned that on August 27, at around 10 pm one Bison Surong of Mynsang Village Block-B, Lynshing Village, attempted to commit rape on one woman at her residence.
In this connection, a case at Madanrting police station was registered and the case endorsed to the investigating officer P. Wahlang.
“After thorough investigation by the officer, the accused was charge sheeted under section 354/354A (1)(i)(ii) (2) of the IPC.
