Shillong, Sept 23: The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) will discuss the issue related to reshuffling of ministerial posts next week.
The PDF is part of the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government, and has four MLAs – Banteidor Lyngdoh, Hamletson Dohling (both are minisers), and two other MLAs, Gavin M Mylliem and Jason S Mawlong.
“We will call a meeting of all the MLAs to discuss the issue next Monday,” PDF acting president, Banteidor Lyngdoh said on Wednesday.
Lyngdoh who is in-charge of Agriculture in the MDA government, said that the decision was taken based on the suggestion of the party’s central executive committee (CEC).
“The CEC has decided to leave it to the wisdom of the MLAs in as far as this issue related to the minister’s posts is concerned,” Lyngdoh said.
The PDF acting president said there has been no agreement made among the MLAs right from the beginning that the minister’s posts will be on rotation basis. “However, we want to respect each other and we felt that there is need to discuss this matter together. Our party is a discipline party, and we don’t have any infighting or misunderstanding. Therefore, we don’t want this issue to divert our commitment to serve the people,” Lyngdoh said.
Urban Affairs minister, Hamletson Dohling also said that the matter would be discussed, and the decision taken by the four MLAs will be final.
“We are yet to know the minds of our colleagues and if they express their desire to get cabinet berths, the party will examine and take a call,” he added.
