Shillong, Aug 20: A senior leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) from Nongkulang area has resigned from the party and joined the National People’s Party (NPP).
M Sibren was formally welcomed by the NPP leader and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Monday.
Sibren told reporters that he has decided to extend full support to the NPP candidate, Martin M Danggo in the upcoming Ranikor bye-election to be held on August 23.
“I will also urge the people of my area to fully support Danggo in this bye election,†he said.
