Rapsang: Not part of government decision to shift residents of Harijan Colony to RP Chest Hospital

Garib Kalyan Sammelan: Union Minister of State for DoNER B L Verma to attend programme in Shillong

Shillong, Aug 23: Suspended Congress legislator from West Shillong, Mohendro Rapsang has said that he was not part of the decision to shift the residents of Harijan Colony in Them Iewmawlong to Reid Provincial Chest Hospital, Mawbah.

“I am not a cabinet minister. I am just supporting the government from outside. The decision making of shifting the Harijan Colony depends entirely on the government and I am not part of it,” Rapsang said.

However, the West Shillong legislator said that he stands with the Dorbar Shnong and strongly opposes the move of the government for relocating the residents of Harijan Colony to his constituency.

Former West Shillong legislator and UDP leader Paul Lyngdoh recently said that there are indications that Rapsang is part of the decision making process to relocate the residents of Harijan Colony to the RP Chest (TB) Hospital area in Mawbah.

Lyngdoh said his remark was based on the fact that Rapsang is set to join the National People’s Party (NPP).

Meanwhile, the suspended Congress MLA also said that the decision on which party he would be contesting from in the 2023 Assembly elections will depend on his supporters.

When asked at the moment which party his supporters are asking to join, Rapsang said the NPP.

“Every party in West Shillong constituency has candidates, the only party left is the NPP,” he said.

It may be mentioned that recently, BJP legislator AL Hek has said that Rapsang was in talks to join the party ahead of the Assembly polls.
