SPARK celebrate Teacher’s Day with underprivileged kids

Shillong, Sep 5: In this situation of Covid 19, all groups of people are going through stress and anxiety due to the pandemic crisis especially the young children being locked up within the four walls of their homes or locality months after months.

Most importantly, the underprivileged children for whom entertainment and fun is out of their expectations as they and their families are constantly suffering and fighting for their survival needs.

Acknowledging that at this point of time, joy, fun, happiness and enjoyment are equally important as any other essential needs for survival, SPARK organized a Special Teacher’s Day Programme for more than 400 underprivileged children holding the same zeal in the children to celebrate this very important day.

The programme was organized at Mawlong, Mawlynrei Triashnong, Pongkung Mawphor, Rangmen Nongsder and Bara Bazaar slum breaking all the burdens of stress, worries and anxiety and filling the day with joy, fun and excitement.

The programme started with the prayer services by these children loaded with so much innocence praying to the Almighty for freedom from the COVID 19 Pandemic which has been adversely affecting the lives of all.

The children also prayed for the safety and well being of their dear teachers and all others as well as paying a tribute to their teachers for the support, encouragement , love and care they have been receiving which have brought so much positive changes in the lives of these children.

Each of the participants including children, teachers, interns, and the community all put their wholehearted efforts to make the day special for their loving teachers.

The programme consisted of Teacher’s Day Cake cutting and cultural programme by the children and their teachers making the whole atmosphere so light, spreading laughter and joy among all present.

The children participants consisted of rag pickers, domestic helpers, working children, street children, slum children, school drop-outs, cowboys, and other under-privileged children from East Khasi Hills District and Ri-Bhoi District.
