Shillong, Oct 31: Thomas A. Sangma, Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, today inspected the under-construction Assembly building at Mawdiangdiang, accompanied by key officials including Commissioner & Secretary Dr. Andrew Simons and Secretary Malthus Sangma.
The inspection was followed by a joint meeting with various line departments involved in the project to review progress and discuss timelines ¹.
According to a statement from the Assembly Secretariat the building construction is in its final stages, with 90 percent of the right wing, left wing, Speaker’s office, Chief Minister’s chamber, Secretariat office, and library nearly completed.
Also the central wing, including the main hall, is still pending, with the erection of the steel structure currently underway.
A clear methodology and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) have been established to ensure worker safety and structural integrity.
The project has fallen behind schedule by approximately one month, with no further extensions to be granted.
Completion of the dome structure within the next 45 days, marking a significant milestone towards the building’s overall completion.
Sangma stressed the importance of adhering to the new timeline, ensuring the project stays on track.
