Spike in COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya, another 40 new cases recorded

Meghalaya records one more COVID-19 death, 25 new cases

Shillong, Feb 7: The state is again seeing a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases.

On Sunday, Meghalaya recorded 40 fresh cases, taking the active cases to 137, health authorities informed.

The state also registered five recovered cases taking the total number to 13601.

East Khasi Hills district has the most number of active cases with 92.

South West Khasi Hills, South West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills, East Garo Hills and North Garo Hills are currently COVID-19 free districts.

Of the 40 new cases registered on Sunday, East Khasi Hills accounted for 26, West Jaintia Hills 11 and Ri-Bhoi three. The five recovered cases, East Khasi Hills recorded four and Ri-Bhoi one.

Director of Health Services (MI) Dr. Aman War informed that of the 3,45,293 persons tested for the virus, 3,31,408 has tested negative.

Dr. War also informed that the number of entrants from outside the state till Sunday afternoon was 89,754.

He also informed that the total number of health care workers vaccinated for COVID-19 till date is 6859.
