St. Xavier’s Parish Mawsynram celebrates 45th foundation day

Shillong, Dec 12: The St. Xavier’s Parish in Mawsynram, East Khasi Hills on Sunday commemorated its 45th foundation year on Sunday.

On the occasion a Holy Mass was held which was attended by Most. Rev. Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh, of Shillong Archdiocese, as the chief guest.

The Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh in his message to the faithful present on the occasion reminded that 40 years ago while he was working in Mawsynram he saw that the people in the area were backward but their faith in God was strong.

Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh urged the faithful to be strong in their believe in God and His blessings for the future generations.

Later, after his message, around 262 youths, elders both men and women, received their Sacrament, and children over seven years received their Communion.

The Parish will celebrate its Golden Jubilee in 2024.

The Parish in Mawsynram consists of 29 villages, consisting of five Catholic Management Committees, three sub districts, two Catechist and 29 Sordar Balang.
