State records 48 new COVID cases, 139 recoveries from the viral infection

State records another COVID-19 death, tolls rises to 150

Shillong, Oct 26: The State on Monday recorded 48 new COVID-19 cases and 139 recovered from the viral infection.

With this, there has been a substantial dip in the number of active cases, which has come down to 1,514 and the number of total recovered cases has surged up to 7,471.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of the 48 new cases, 23 were from East Khasi Hills district, 14 in West Jaintia Hills, five (armed/paramilitary forces two and civilians three), three North Garo Hills district and one each in Ri-Bhoi district, South West Garo Hills district and Souith West Khasi Hills district.

The Director of Health Services informed that the total number of persons tested for the virus till 2 PM on Monday was 1,98,343, of which 1,89,277 have tested negative. Dr. War informed that of the negative cases, 1, 12, 158 were tested through CBNAAT/TRUENAAT/RAT and 77119 through RTPCR.

He also said that a total of 52125 persons from outside the State have entered Meghalaya so far.

Dr. War also informed that of the new recovered cases, 117 were from West Khasi Hills district, 11 Ri-Bhoi district, six from West Garo Hills district, two each in North Garo Hills district and South West Khasi Hills district and one in West Jaintia Hills district.

Till date, 9,066 persons have tested positive for the virus out of which 81 have died due to the disease, 7,471 have recovered while 1,514 are active.
