State records another COVID-19 death, tolls rises to 150

Shillong, Mar 25: The state recorded another COVID-19 death taking the number to 150, even as three new cases were recorded and one recovered from the virus.

With this the number of active cases in the state is now 23 and the total recovered cases stands at 13, 849. Only two districts out of the 11 presently have active cases – East Khasi Hills – 19 and Ri-Bhoi – four.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the deceased identified as Desking Rangslang, 41 a resident of Mawdiangdiang who was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital on March 23 died of the virus on March 24 at 7:30 pm.

Dr. War informed that the deceased had comorbidities and was diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, sepsis, acute respiratory infection and cellulitis.

Of the three new cases two were detected from East Khasi Hills district and one from Ri-Bhoi district.

The Director of Health Services informed that the total persons tested till date 3,96,300 out of which 3,82,278 were negative and 14022 are confirmed cases.

The number of entrants from outside of Meghalaya till Thursday afternoon is 97,486.

Dr. War also informed that the vaccination achievement for healthcare workers till Thursday afternoon is 21,550 for the first dose and 13,902 for the second dose.

The vaccination achievement for frontline workers is 31,297 for the first dose and 14,045 for the second dose.

The vaccination achievement for general public based on the eligible age group till March 25, afternoon for the first dose is 21,559.
