Balachanda MDC visits flood affected villages under Selsella constituency

Shillong, Jun 23: Meghalaya Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and Member of District Council (MDC) from Balachanda Agassi Marak visited flood-affected areas of Songkapara village in Selsella, West Garo Hills.
This comes as part of the party’s ongoing relief efforts after flash floods impacted over five lakh lives across the state.
Marak used boats to reach inaccessible villages that are cut off from the mainland, and assessed the damage brought on by incessant rains in various areas of the hamlet.
He was accompanied by two local TMC leaders Winson Koch and Sushil Koch.
During his visit, the Balachanda MDC spoke to flood affected families and provided necessary assistance.
Floods have not only hampered the village’s connectivity but also damaged local crops.
Spreading the message of Meghalaya TMC in these tough times, Marak said, “We are together in what has befallen us, and we shall make it through.”
Extending assistance to Songkapara residents Marak gave a boat to the community and promised to provide ongoing moral and material support in times of need.
