Government to convene meeting of high level committee on September 22
Shillong, Sep 17: The state government has informed the Meghalaya High Court that the meeting of the High Level Committee, formed to find a suitable site to relocate the residents of Them Iewmawlong from their present site will be meeting on September 22.
The state government had also informed the Court that an alternative piece of land has been identified in the European ward of Shillong for rehabilitation of the members of the Harijan Panchayat Committee.
“The matter has been lingering for quite some time. Other sites had been identified earlier. It is hoped that both the state and the appellant resolve the matter as expeditiously as possible,” the Division Bench of the Meghalaya High Court said.
