Shillong July 14: The Academy of Fine Arts in Kolkata hosted Bharat-Bangla Art Fest, an international art festival from July 7th to 12th, 2024, organized by the Bangladesh Artists Group and Santiniketan Kala Bhavan Praktoni. This prestigious event showcases the works of 117 artists, with 41 from Bangladesh and the remainder representing India, including Raphael Warjri from Meghalaya. Over two hundred paintings and a dozen sculptures were exhibited, featuring contributions from acclaimed artists from both countries.
Among the highlights are the paintings of Jogen Choudhury and the sculptures of Janak Jhankar Narzari from India, as well as the artworks of K M A Quayyum and Prof Hamiduzzaman Khan from Bangladesh. The exhibition, sponsored by the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata, aims to establish itself as a significant global art exposition, fostering cultural exchange and artistic dialogue between the two nations.
