Total lockdown in Shillong agglomeration on July 13 and 14

Shillong, Jul 11: The Meghalaya Government on Saturday announced a complete lockdown on Monday and Tuesday in Shillong agglomeration following sharp rise of COVID 19 positive cases.

So far the state has 236 active cases.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, the kockdown will be used to trace contacts of the positive cases reported in Shillong.

He also urged the citizens to cooperate fully.

“Lockdown the virus through
Behavior Change. During this period, Shillong City and the surrounding areas shall be
under curfew until 6 am of July 15. This time shall be productively used by the Community Covid Management Committees and the newly set up Behaviour Change Management Committees of various localities to inculcate awareness about the cardinal principles of Behaviour Change at the household level. Remember we need to fight and isolate this virus together, not just the Government or Health workers, but we all need
to be Covid warriors,” a statement issued by the Chief Minister Office said.
