Two minutes silence observed in the State

Shillong, January 30: Along with the rest of the country, Meghalaya today observed a two minutes silence with due solemnity and better public participation in memory of those who gave their lives in the struggle for India’s freedom. The day also marks the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

In the State capital, a two minutes silence was observed in the Main Secretariat premises in the presence of senior government officials and staff led by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Shri. D P Wahlang, IAS.

As part of the observance, wreaths were also laid at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi by the Chief Secretary and other senior government officials.
