Two new ministers take oath, Lamare is MDA government’s youngest minister

Shillong Oct 1: The Conrad K Sangma-led cabinet now has youngest minister with the swearing in of 28-year old National People’s Party (NPP) legislator, Dasakhiatbha Lamare as minister.

The first time legislator from Mawhati constituency took oath of office and secrecy as minister along with first time legislator of the HSPDP from Mawkyrwat constituency Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar on Thursday.

The two MLAs – Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar and Dasakhiatbha Lamare were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan in the presence of chief minister Conrad K Sangma, Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh, deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong and other ministers and officers.

Lamare replaced former fisheries minister and three-time legislator of the NPP from Raliang constituency, Comingone Ymbon and Tongkhar replaced former PHE minister and first time HSPDP MLA from Sohïong constituency, Samlin Malngiang.

Lamare 28, now is the youngest minister in the 12-member Cabinet, followed by UDP MLA from Khliehriat constituency, Kyrmen Shylla.

Shylla 31, took oath as minister at the age of 29 when the MDA government was formed on March 6, 2018 after the Assembly elections.

With the induction of Lamare into the Cabinet, Mawhati constituency was given the ministerial berth after 30 years.

The last MLA from Mawhati constituency inducted as minister was late S R Moksha during 1990-1991 in the government led by former minister, late B B Lyngdoh.
