Two police personnel suspended in accident case involving Home Minister’s carcade

Meghalaya DGP takes up matter of Atukhal incident with Assam police

Shillong, Jan 15: Authorities on Saturday suspended two Meghalaya police personnel who were in the escort vehicle of Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui’s convoy on Thursday when it hit a bike.

The bike rider died on the spot while a pillion rider was seriously injured in the accident.

According to, police armed branch sub inspector Kromith Marak and Driver Constable Dimsrang N Sangma of East Garo Hills have been suspended until further order by East Garo Hills, Superintendent of Police.

The incident took place at Khera in East Garo Hills district during the movement of the Home Minister from Rongjeng to Williamnagar, police said.

The police gypsy escorting the Home Minister carcade at the tail collided with the bike coming from the opposite direction.

Police also informed that a regular case has been registered for further investigation.
