Union writes to Conrad on stalled MCCL

Shillong, Sep 9: The employees of the Meghalaya Cherra Cements Limited have written to the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma, to bring to his notice that till date no final settlement regarding the running of the factory has been initiated.

In the letter sent by the Meghalaya Cherra Cements (MCCEU), the employees stated that the non-running and non-production of cements inversely affected the earning capacity of employees and their future.

According to MCCEU president Shanlang Diengdoh, the financial assistance given by the government has to some extent eased the financial burden of the employees but not to the full extent.

“We therefore urge your good office to expeditiously initiate the running of the plants so that it will inversely ease the financial woes of all employees,” Diengdoh said.

The union has also threatened that if there is no clear cut and positive development within these months the employees will be forced to take some other course of action.
