VPP expels two more members from its ranks for indiscipline

Shillong, April 22: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) has expelled two other members from the party for “indiscipline”.

With this the party has so far expelled three members of the VPP after voting for the Lok Sabha election held on April 19.

On Monday, the disciplinary committee of the VPP expelled Shanlang Warjri and Kherup Sing Thabah.

Warjri was the VPP candidate from the Mairang assembly constituency for the 2023 Assembly polls, while Thabah is the working president of the VPP Mairang unit.

The expulsion letter to Warjri dated April 20 stated that the disciplinary committee of the VPP has taken serious note of his statements made through social media platform which is unbecoming for a member of the State Executive Committee.

“After thorough consideration and review of your actions and statements, it has become evident that your conduct is inconsistent with the values and principles of our party. Your behavior and actions has brought disrepute to the party and undermines our collective efforts to uphold integrity and promote our agenda,” the disciplinary committee of the VPP stated in its expulsion letter.

The letter further states that the act of indiscipline on his part has left the party with no option but to expel him from the party with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, in the letter to Thabah, the committee stated that through his actions, statements and behaviour, it has become evident that his conduct is inconsistent with the values and principles of the party and therefore he is also being expelled with immediate effect.

Earlier on April 20, the VPP had expelled Avner Medon Pariat from the party for the same reason.

Pariat was the VPP candidate from the East Shillong constituency for the 2023 Assembly election.
