Yoga training-cum-demonstration sessions organised in run-up to 8th International Day of Yoga

Shillong, May 13: As a run-up to International Day of Yoga on June 21, the office of the Regional Outreach Bureau Shillong along with the Field Outreach Bureau, Nongstoin jointly organized an outreach activity on Yoga at JNV School, Mawphlang on Friday.

The event, which was attended by students, teachers and staff of the school, was held to give a wider promotion and publicity to various dimensions of Yoga and also to promote the countdown campaign to IDY-2022 for health and well-being. The Ministry of AYUSH and the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, GoI have taken up celebrations at various locations to build-up to the main event, which will be held on International Yoga Day.

Ch. Dineshan, Principal, JNV School, Mawphlang as Chief Guest and Dr Engam Pame, Director, ROB Shillong spoke in details the importance of practicing Yoga in Daily Life.

Dr Pame appreciated the initiative of the AYUSH Ministry for organizing the countdown to the International Yoga Day in which the two ministries today took part enthusiastically at places spread all over the country.

Painting Competition, Quiz Competition and sessions on Yoga awareness and Yoga performances were some of the outreach activities that were organized today. Prizes were also distributed among the winners of the competitions.

Similar sessions on Yoga were also organised by the Doordarshan Kendra Shillong and Tura for their office staff at the respective Doordarshan Studio Complex.

This year, as the nation celebrates Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to mark 75th year of Independence, Ministry of AYUSH has initiated a 100-day countdown program starting from May 13, 2022 with participation of 100 different organizations.

In this regard, the Ministry of AYUSH has also allotted specific dates to each of the Ministry for observing the Countdown to International Day of Yoga pre-celebrations by practicing Yoga exercises based on Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) and organize other related activities.
