Shillong, Sep 6: Opposition Congress legislator, Zenith Sangma on Monday said that the MeECL had engaged one company called NITCON for monetization of their assets across the state including the land.

Sangma alleged that the government is allegedly planning to lease out the assets particularly the land of MeECL in different locations in Shillong, Umiam, Sumer, Byrnihat, Tura to private operators to develop malls, hotel, casinos, with the pretext to enhance tourism industry in the state that too at the cost of the interest of the people.

“Therefore, with this intention tourism portfolio is going to be given to James Sangma provided power portfolio is taken away from him so that their mission is accomplished. Their sole intention is to loot and benefit only few at the cost of the interest of the people,”

The Congress MLA from Rangsakona said that this policy is not acceptable to the people of the state and it should be condemned.

“I would like to tell the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma please stop indulging in corruption and please do have mercy on the people of the state and the next generation,” Sangma added.
