Shillong, Apr 24: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has asked the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) to inform whether it has received direction from the state government on video surveillance when job interviews are conducted.

In a letter submitted to the chairman of the MPSC on Wednesday, KSU general secretary Donald V Thabah asked the MPSC to update the developments regarding the setting up of the new mode of examination where video surveillance or coverage is a criteria if such a direction is being conveyed to the MPSC from the government.

He informed that the Union had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma on April 5, last year demanding immediate revamping of the mode for conducting of examinations by the MPSC.

“Video surveillance or coverage for all interviews conducted by the MPSC is one of the demands put forth by the Union,” Thabah said, while recalling that the Chief Minister during the meeting last year, had assured the KSU delegation that the matter would be looked into and the suggestions in the context of video surveillance of examinations is ‘feasible and of utmost significance.’
