Shillong July 13: As many as 224 cases were settled including an amount of Rs 4,33,82,004.28 during the National Lok Adalat held across the state on Saturday.
In the High Court of Meghalaya alone, an amount of Rs 2.17 crore was settled.
Around 647 pre-litigation cases and 436 pending cases were posted in the National Lok Adalat for settlement. The cases included MACT, Bank Recovery, civil cases and compoundable criminal cases.
These cases were settled along with the co-ordination of the District Legal Services Authorities.
The National Lok Adalat was organized by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority in the State under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and under the Patronage of Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court, Ajay Kumar Mittal, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of Justice H.S. Thangkhiew, Judge of Meghalaya High Court who is also an Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority.
The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority expressed its gratitude to the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court and Justice H.S. Thangkhiew for their encouragement and support for making the National Lok Adalat success in the State.
