Selling of masks, hand sanitizers: Meghalaya Govt warns black-marketing

Shillong, Mar 18: The Meghalaya government has issued direction that any person found hoarding, black-marketing or selling at a price higher than the maximum retail price of masks (2 ply & 3 ply surgical masks, N95 masks) and hand sanitizers shall be punishable under Section 3 of the Prevention of Black Marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Act, 1980.

This was informed by the Secretary (Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department) of the Meghalaya government on Wednesday.

“This is in pursuance to the order of the Government of India, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution to regulate the production, quality, distribution, logistics of masks (2 ply & 3 ply surgical masks, N95 masks) and hand sanitizers (for COVID 19 management).

This notification shall remain in force for a period upto 30th June, 2020.
