Shillong, Nov 30: The state cabinet has approved an amendment bill related to cutting of salary of each legislator by Rs 8,000 from Rs 2.10 lakh a month and the bill would be tabled in the upcoming winter session of the Assembly.
The last and final winter session of the current ninth Assembly will begin on December 8/.
The amendment bill is known as the Legislative Assembly (Members’ Salaries and Allowances) Amendment Bill, 2017.
Chief minister Mukul Sangma told reporters that the amendment bill would be tabled for consideration of the House in order to replace an ordinance that was approved earlier.
The state cabinet had earlier approved an ordinance for cutting the monthly salary of each MLA, by Rs 8,000 from Rs 2.10 lakh to Rs 2.02 lakh a month.
Meanwhile, the cabinet has also approved the appointment of Dr Manoj Sadhwani as officer-on-special duty (OSD) to the governor, Ganga Prasad.
His monthly salary has been fixed at Rs Rs 50,000.
