Shillong, Jul 28: State BJP vice-president and Member of District Council (MDC) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), Bernard Marak was brought back to the state after his arrest from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh on July 26.
Marak was on the run after his farm house Rimpu Bagan was raided by police on July 22.
The police suspect that the state BJP vice-president was running a brothel from the farm house.
A case has been registered against him in Tura Women Police Station under Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act.
Meanwhile, police also informed that on Thursday, a team of District Child Protection Unit and Meghalaya Police went to Rimpu Bagan to collect the clothes and books of the rescued children.
During this exercise, they found one small door-like structure. When this door was broken open, explosives and other weapons were recovered.
According to police, 35 gelatin sticks, 100 detonators, four cross bows and 15 arrows were recovered.
Police informed that charges under Explosives Substances Act, 1908 will be added against Marak.
