Shillong, Jan 17: The Meghalaya Cabinet has approved the proposal to amend the Meghalaya Settlement of Arrears under the State Taxation Act Amendment Ordinance 2022.
Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said that the Meghalaya had implemented the “One Time Settllement of Tax†but in the course of time there are some persons/firms/agencies who have already paid some percentage of the Tax but could not clear all and there are some firms which have submitted applications that they could not pay and the last date for settlement is over.
“So the Taxation department have moved for giving opportunity for those who have submitted the application offered their willingness,†Rymbui said.
Rymbui said that this will enable those individuals or traders who have liability to settle their tax.
He said that with this the government will be able to generate an amount of Rs. 12 crore from the pending cases.
