Shillong, Apr 29: The state Cabinet has approved the creation of a new Directorate of Dairy Development to boost milk production in the state.
Informing this after the cabinet meeting on Monday, Home Minister James K Sangma said that the state government had launched the Meghalaya Milk Mission and Rs 215 crore has been sanctioned through the National Cooperative Development Corporation.
He said that the financial implication for creating the directorate will not be much because the government would spend additionally Rs 12 lakh a year, only for creating the post of director.
The state government has also decided to enhance the grant-in-aid to around 15 night and morning adhoc secondary schools in the state.
Sangma said night and morning schools having classes IX and X will be given Rs 20,000 each, while the grant-in-aid for those having classes from VI to VIII, would get Rs 40,000 each.
He also said that the government has decided to have a uniform rate while extending the grant-in-aid to such schools unlike in the past where different amount was given to different categories of schools.
Enhancement of fee structure for issuing of factory license and renewal of license was also approved after a gap of 18 years since 2000.
The cabinet has also approved the appointment of principal of the food and craft institute, besides regularizing the service of two employees working in the health department.
Meanwhile the state Home Minister informed that the state cabinet has decided to construct a public park on a plot of government land known as ‘Maxwelton Estate’.
