CM on mission mode to upscale agricultural activities in State

Shillong, Aug 24: In an endeavour to promote farmers well-being and enable them to dream big, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is on a mission to create the much needed awareness on the potential to upscale agriculture activities in the State.

The Chief Minister has been touring different districts in the State to interact with farmers under government’s flagship programme – FOCUS to ensure that farmers come together as a group to form ‘Producers Group’ and avail financial support and hand holding, which the State Govt through Meghalaya Basin Management Authority (MBMA) has initiated in the State.

Speaking at an interaction programme with farmers at Ampati in South West Garo Hills, Sangma informed that Prime Hub is being set up across the State to provide training to farmers and entrepreneurs through MBMA.

He said that very soon the Prime Hub will be established in South West Garo Hills.

The Chief Minister also informed that the government is working with farmers and entrepreneurs to provide them market linkage, access to interest free loans, technical support and certification.

He also told that State government has conceptualised the programme to ensure that majority of the population in the State, who are dependant on agriculture for their sustenance are able to reap benefit of the prestigious programme.

Sangma informed that the government is committed for the farmers interest and through various farmers welfare programme necessary assistance and support will be provided.

The Chief Minister also interacted with farmers of the district and handed over financial support to various producers group of the district.
