Shillong, Dec 6: Congress MDC from Rambrai-Jyrngam Bajop Pyngrope on Monday indicated that he may join the TMC.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a felicitation programme of new TMC state president, Charles Pyngrope, the MDC said that he has plans to contest the 2023 elections even as he added that it depends upon the people in the constituency whom they nominate.

Pyngrope said that he has many options, from Mawshynrut and Mawthadraishan in West Khasi Hills district, Mawkynrew and Mawryngkneng in East Khasi Hills district.

“In the months to come I will declare. I have to go back to the grassroot, to my people and consult with them because they were the ones who elected me and I cannot join (TMC) without consulting them,” he added.

Pyngrope also came down hard on the present leadership of the Congress party.

He said that the present leadership of the Congress reconstituted the state unit and he was removed as secretary of the MPCC but without any valid reason.

“They have not even called me to say what the reason is. I have not done any anti-party activities in the past. I have always been a loyal and obedient person of the party. There are so many new faces in the Congress we don’t know them also. So it is very hard for us to work with the present leadership,” he pointed out.

Pyngrope also said that the AICC imposed upon the MLAs/MDCs the present MPCC chief, Vincent Pala when their choice was Charles Pyngrope.

“We felt that the right leader was sir Charles Pyngrope and we have given our signature and wanted him as the MPCC president but sadly AICC through the back door, a new name popped up,” the MDC added.
