Local Holiday for Nongkrem Dance

Shillong, Nov 08: The Additional Secretary, General Administration (A) Department has informed that all state government offices, revenue and magisterial courts, and educational institutions in the East Khasi Hills District shall remain closed as local holiday on November 12, 2018 on account of Nongkrem Dance.

East Jaiñtia Hills District achieves 95.36 percent on MR Campaign

Shillong, Nov 08: East Jaiñtia Hills District has achieved 95.36 percent in Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) having vaccinated 55,003 children out of a target of 57,682 children till November 3.

The district has launched Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign on September 24 in all the health facilities, schools and villages where children in the age group of 9 months to 15 years are vaccinated with MR vaccine to eliminate measles and control rubella.

The District has conducted 4 (four) District Task Force for Immunization (DTFI) meetings on the campaign chaired by Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman District Health Society, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat in the presence of the District Medical & Health Officer, District Transport Officer, BDOs, Education department, ICDS department, religious leaders and village headmen who have supported the Medical Officers and staffs of the health facilities in spreading awareness during the campaign and also providing vehicles especially to the hard to reach areas.

The district officials were able to immunize refusal pockets with MR vaccine in areas such as Kairang, Nongthymme, Suchenrim and Mulait village with the help of the village headmen and pastors who visited the villages. The district officials have requested the parents of unvaccinated children to kindly come forward and get their child vaccinated.
