East Khasi Hills District decided not to open Iewduh and Khyndailad

Shillong, May 26: The district administration of East Khasi Hills has decided not to allow re-opening of the Iewduh market to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

The decision was taken at a meeting convened by the Deputy Commissioner Matsiewdor War Nongbri with Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) chief Titos Chyne and Acting Syiem of Hima Mylliem here on Tuesday.

“We have decided not to open Iewduh market at this juncture,” Chyne said after the meeting.

Earlier, the state government has decided to workout modalities for the reopening of Iewduh and Khyndailad markets.

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong after a review meeting held on Monday had informed that the government is yet to take a final call on the matter. He had said that the government is still seeking reports from the KHADC and Hima Mylliem.
