Shillong, Jan 31: Four candidates including PWD (buildings) Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh submitted their nomination papers on Wednesday, the day when an election notification was issued.
Lyngdoh was accompanied by supporters and she is the first Congress candidate to file nomination papers to contest the upcoming Assembly polls slated for February 27.
Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh expressed confident of retaining East Shillong seat.
Stating that anti-incumbency is common, she said, “I am not looking at my contenders, but preparing to give my best to get a bigger margin”.
Besides Lyngdoh, the other three candidates who filed nomination papers include Ricky Shullai, a member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council who will be contesting as an Independent from Mylliem constituency.
Mattsing Nongrum will also contest as an Independent from Sohra constituency and L. Nongsiang as an Independent candidate from Mawshynrut constituency.
The last date for filing of nominations is February 7.
Scrutiny of nominations will take place on February 8, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 12.
