Shillong, Aug 18: Leader of opposition, Dr. Mukul Sangma has expressed surprise to see how the government tend to create a perceived vacuum by not appointing a new Home Minister.
“The government tries to send a message that there is no home minister,” Dr. Sangma said.
It may be mentioned that on August 15, Lahkmen Rymbui had asked the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma to relieve him of the portfolio in the aftermath of the killing of ex-HNLC militant, Cheristerfield Thangkhiew.
The leader of opposition said that although Rymbui wanted to be relieved from the portfolio there is no clarity on the issue.
“We don’t know whether the Chief Minister has acceded and relieved him or have he allotted the portfolio to somebody else. As of now we know that there has been no reshuffling of the portfolio,” Dr. Sangma said.
He also added that the opposition are surprised that somebody is refusing to act.
“That means they want to shrug off the very important responsibility, of dealing with this very crucial department,” he added.
