Shillong, Oct 29: From now on, organisers of Super-Mega event in Meghalaya will have to pay a tax of Rs 1 lakh per day.

This was approved by the state Cabinet following a proposal of the Excise Registration Taxation and Stamps (ERTS) Department in connection with the holding of Super-Mega events.

Tynsong said that earlier, there was only mega event with 2,000 people and above, which was charged Rs 25,000 per day, while events below 2,000 persons, it was charged at Rs 15,000 per day.

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that Super-Mega event is an event of 5,000 persons and above in which organizers of such event would have to pay a tax of Rs 1 lakh per day to the government.
