Shillong, Aug 27: The Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Monday claimed to have detected 10 migrant labourers without documents.
Speaking to reporters, HYC vice president Donbok Khalyngdoh said the labourers were detected during a checking conducted at the construction site at Windermere Resort, Umpling, as part of the Council’s “Sier Lapalang†operation.
The Resort is owned by senior Congress legislator Charles Pyngrope.
According to Kharlyngdoh, the operation aimed at checking labourers from outside the state without labour license and other relevant documents.
He said that Pyngrope has assured to discontinue engaging such labourers without documents within a week’s time.
