Kharpuri urges Shella electorates to elect their leader wisely

Shillong, Oct 11: Independent candidate and Nongshken MDC, Grace Mary Kharpuri on Friday urged the people of Shella constituency to choose their leader wisely to ensure all round development in the constituency.

Kharpuri is contesting the bye election to Shella constituency against UDP candidate, Balajied Kupar Synrem and four others. The bye election will be held on October 21 and counting of votes on October 24.

During her election campaigns at Dalia, Umkhabaw and Kalatek village on Friday, Kharpuri pointed out lack of development in the constituency despite the people having elected late Dr Donkupar continuously for 31 years.

Kharpuri said that the constituency has no proper roads, health care facility, educational institutes besides electricity for the past many years.

“Therefore, the people of Shella this time cannot afford to make the same mistake when they elect their new representative in this bye election,” Kharpuri said while urging the people to give her a chance to serve them better.

She assured to work hard for the development of the constituency.

“Give me your full support so that we can bring the desirable change to the constituency,” the Independent candidate urged the electorates.

She said that she had chosen road roller as her election symbol to ensure that the long pending aspiration of the people in term of better road connectivity is fulfilled.

Kharpuri maintained that if elected as MLA, she would support the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government.
