Shillong Mar 02: the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) member, Lurshai Hynñiewta who was killed in a clash at Ichamati on February 28 was cremated on Monday at Sohra.

Clashes erupted between non-tribals of Ichamati area and KSU activists after the KSU held a meeting opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act and demanded the implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state.

Hynñiewta was critically injured and succumbed to injuries at Sohra CHC.

Thousands of people including members of the KSU and other organisations attended the cremation service.
