KSU to hold public meeting against Citizenship Bill in Shillong on January 30

Shillong Jan 25: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) will hold a public meeting on January 30, to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill, which seeks to grant citizenship to immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

The public meeting will be held at the Parking Lot, Motphran.

A statement issued here on Friday by KSU general secretary Donald V Thabah said that the public meeting was part of the decision taken by the North East Student Organisations (NESO).

The KSU urged the people to attend the meeting and to send a strong message to the Centre that the people of the state are strongly opposing the Bill and they are not ready to become minority in “our own homeland.”

NESO also urged various NGOs including those from Garo Hills region to attend the meeting.
