Shillong, May 20:Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting and reviewed the State’s preparedness in view of the cyclone Amphan.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone told reporters that the meeting discussed the possible impact of cyclone Amphan even though the gravity of the situation is low.
“The government has instructed the respective district administrations to be alert all through the night and respond immediately if the need arises,†he said.
On the other hand, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Kyrmen Shylla said that all the Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts have been put on alert in view of the cyclone.
He said that the State disaster management machinery is in place to deal with any eventuality if the need be and the Deputy Commissioners have also been alerted.
