Meghalaya CM discusses pending national highway projects with Union Home Minister

Shillong Oct 22: Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma met Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and discussed about different National Highway road projects especially the Dawki-Shillong highway which required acquiring of defence land in some areas.

The state government has to acquire defence land in some areas in order to expedite the process of land acquisition and transfer the same to the PWD (Roads) so that work can start and ensure early completion of the project.

The Chief Minister also discussed about the road widening and traffic decongestion projects in Shillong city.

Among other topics that came up for discussion, the Chief Minister took up the matter related to using of Garrison Ground earlier known as Madan Kirkit at Laban for national celebrations such as Independence Day and Republic Day.

During the meeting with Shah, state home minister, James K Sangma was also present.
