Meghalaya CM slams BJP for proclaiming as “crusader” against corruption

Shillong, Jan 24: Chief minister Mukul Sangma on Wednesday lashed out at the BJP and alleged that saffron party was engaging in strategies which is corrupting the political system and dilute the federal structure of the nation.

Speaking to media persons, he also slammed the BJP for proclaiming itself as crusader against corruption.

“The activities of BJP are dangerous for the future of the country,” he said, and accused the BJP of diluting and weakening the federal structure of the nation.

Commenting on some schemes proposed to be implemented by the Centre, the chief minister said that the Union Government was also trying to reach to stakeholders directly even though there were guidelines for Central Government schemes.

On the upcoming Assembly polls slated for February 27, the chief minister said that Congress would divide and use optimum time for campaign.

Asked if he would lead the campaign in entire state, he said, “I have done it in 2013. It is only a question of dividing the time appropriately. By looking at the time available, we will be utilizing them optimally to ensure that our target of winning more than 35 plus seats fructifies. As of now, it is 38 seats for us.”
