Meghalaya CPC : Other states in India can take an example from Meghalaya on religious union and harmony

Shillong, Oct 24: The Central Puja Committee said that Meghalaya has a strong foundation of religious union and harmony, and it is the leading state in the country where all sections of people live in peace, harmony and brotherhood.

The statement came from the CPC as the state is celebrating Durga Puja amid restrictions due to COVID-19 as well as fear in the minds of the people over the re-emergence of the Ichamati incident and incitements from outside Meghalaya and inflammatory comments on various social media.

CPC President, Naba Bhattacharjee while conveying greetings on the occasion of Durga Puja to all citizens of the Meghalaya, said that not only this year, but over the years, people of the state have contributed to have all religious festivals in a spirit of harmony, brotherhood and fraternity.

On unpleasant comments on social media, the CPC President said that Meghalaya is the leading state in the country where all are living together in peace, harmony and brotherhood and people from other states in India can take an example from Meghalaya and not the other way round.

“Meghalaya has a strong foundation of religious union and harmony, and it is the leading state in the country where all sections of people live in peace, harmony and brotherhood,” Bhattacharjee said.

CPC general secretary, J L Das urged everyone to maintain peace harmony and brotherhood in Meghalaya and celebrate Durga Puja peacefully and contribute to the development of the state. He also said that all issues can be settled across the table.
