Shillong, June 17: Urban Affairs Minister, Hamletson Dohling directed the tourism department to make a tourist lodge at Lum Nongkhlaw functional within three months.
The direction from the minister came after he inspected the tourist lodge at Lum Nongkhlaw on Monday in the presence of tourism director, Cyril Diengdoh, executive engineer (tourism) Fabian Umdor besides Secretary of Kyndong village, Secretary of Mylliem Madan Ãngsyiem and headman of Syllai-U-Lor.
The lodge was constructed on a plot measuring about 2 acres which was donated by the three villages, Mylliem Kyndong, Madan Ãngsyiem and Syllai U-Lor to the tourism department for promoting tourism in the area.
The construction of the tourist lodge was completed in 2013, but it is yet to become operatonal till date, as there is no electricity and water supply.
After inspecting the lodge, the minister asked the officials of tourism department to speed up the remaining works and complete within three months so that it becomes functional for the benefit of people in the area especially unemployed youth.
