Shillong, Nov 26: South Shillong legislator, Sanbor Shullai on Tuesday extended financial assistance of Rs 1,01,000 to the Church of God, in view of the raging fire incident that destroyed the church at Qualapatty on November 17.
The amount released under the discretionary grant 2019-2020 was handed over by the MLA to Rev A C Moore, the pastor in-charge of the church at Qualapatty.
“This is a humble contribution to enable the congregation to build a new church which will look far better than the old church through the grace of God Almighty,†Shullai said.
He said the Church of God which was founded in 1902, is a well known church throughout the state.
Shullai also assured to seek financial assistance under the spiritual circuit tourism of the Central government scheme to rebuild the church at Qualapatty.
The church at Qualapatty was built in 1924, and it has completed 95 years.
